Hank's Big Boy Room

Back before the bambino arrived, I had a "Before Baby List". On that list were about a gazillion sub-lists, one of which was devoted to creating a big boy room for my big boy Hank. We knew we wanted to transition him into a twin bed and wanted to keep the other furniture to a minimum so that he'd have plenty of room to play.

After pinning 4,000 inspiration photos, I finally came up with a layout and a theme. Balls. Soccer balls, baseballs, footballs, basketballs, etc. My baby is OB-sessed. We found the perfect sheets at our local Home Goods which provided the color scheme.

Bed frame from Goodwill, Ball sheets from Home Goods, White Quilt from Ikea, Chevron quilt handmade from B's grandmother, pillows, draperies and all artwork by yours truly.

Took forever to get just the right shade of grue (grey + blue) on that ball art.

Love this banner that our church in GA gave us when we had Hank baptized.

Reading chair, complete with a chunky baby legs

Found this dresser at a thrift store in Hoover and had my awesome MIL paint it this gorgeous navy color. Is it sad I want to steal it for our living room?

So, in closing...balls.

McWane Science Center

Hank and I joined a small group. Actually, that implies a little more commitment than what we've actually put forth. We've gone on two outings with a lovely bunch of ladies and their youngins. Better?

The first was a trip to a local park for playground and creek time. Easy, fun and knocked the Tank out for about 2 hours. This time we went to McWane Science Center in downtown Birmingham. I assumed all of these learning museum type places were all a little too advanced for H's 15 months but my neighborfriend assured me that there would be plenty for him (and her daughter who is a day younger than him) to do. She could not have been more right.

We parked the strollers and the minute Tank's feet hit the ground he was SPRINTING through the place. Going from exhibit to exhibit, dropping balls into baskets, pushing kids twice his size out of the way to push BUTTONS!!, putting stars into constellations, stomping on unsuspecting parents, planting wooden flowers, and much, much more. Sure, he didn't understand the idea behind any of it but the kid had a blast. My favorite part is when he would turn around to make sure I was still behind me and grin that big toothy grin, turn back and give me a hug. SO sweet.

Waiting for the Ball Drop

Buttons!!

Climbing up the slide that he later gets stuck in.

I swear he had fun.  Why does this kid hate cameras?!

Sweet little gardener.

Loved these little flower things.
