Red Velvet, if you please...

B does the grocery shopping (and the cooking) in our house and usually surprises me with a treat...something he thinks I might like...to distract me from all the vegetables he's trying to force feed me.  Like I'm not going to notice the peas/carrots/broccoli shoved so conspicuously in the meatloaf.

This past trip to the Walmarts the man came home with this...

Blue Bunny's Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake
First of all, I LOVE red velvet cake and I've discovered a new found affinity for ice cream...not sure the two should ever meet though.  Something about the texture of the cake and the milkiness of the ice cream makes me a wee bit wary.  Add Duff to the front of the carton with his ever present smug that makes him super hard to tolerate, much less enjoy and you can imagine how I was hoping for some brand name Cheerios instead (we don't buy brand names, like ever, so anything with Kellogg's or General Mills on the box gets me VERY excited).

B, sensing my skepticism, assured me that he had also purchased a carton of Blue Bell's chocolate as a back up.

“10-4" I replied.

And really, is it any wonder that two people who think of things like BACK-UP DESSERT OPTIONS found each other and decided to spend their lives together?  It explains so much, once you get to know us.

After dinner, B and I dove in.  Despite my wariness, I really need to say: Y'all, that is some tasty goodness right there!!  Something about the bits of cake smooshed in with the vanilla-y ice cream...heaven.  Unless you don't care for red velvet cake...or ice cream...or Duff.  In which case, I'm gonna assume you wouldn't have picked it out of your local grocer's freezer section.

So there you have it. Another night of LIVING ON THE EDGE in our house.

Have any of y’all tried it? What did you think?

p.s. Nobody at Blue Bunny asked me to write this post. Mainly because they have no idea who I am.
